Eglise romane Sainte Fauste

12th century Romanesque church, built on a promontory, at the heart of the geological site of Bozouls.

Romanesque church built in red sandstone, on the model of the abbey-church at Conques: the choir is surrounded by an ambulatory of five small chapels. Curiosity: the impression of opening upwards that the pillars give when you come into the church - a lack of verticality due to the weight of the primitive roof (the vault was covered with heavy limestone "lauzes" (roof slates) that made even heavier a thick bed of earth).
